Q:I just saw the question about ENTPs (and INTJ's now, I guess). I think I'm an INFJ. Are there any modern TV or movie characters that are INFJs?

Q:what makes enfps and infjs so compatible?

Anonymous

The ultimate match-up for communication and genuine understanding comes from a formula.

They must have the complementary dominant function and inferior function. Each cognitive function only has 2 types who claim dominance with it. (1st and 2nd place match) 2nd place goes to the type that fits the above criteria.

2nd Place Winners
ENFP:    Ne Fi Te Si
INFJ:     Ni Fe Ti Se

1st place goes to the type that fits the above criteria as well as shares the same middle two functions, in reverse order.

1st Place Winners
ENFP:     Ne Fi Te Si
INTJ:      Ni Te Fi Se

Who then would consider an INFJ their perfect match?

Let’s use the formula!
INFJ:     Ni Fe Ti Se
            Ne __ __ Si
ENTP:    Ne Ti Fe Si

Now you’re probably wondering why this works. (If not, we’re done here.) It works on the premise that you would need to find the other person’s dominant function relatable enough to communicate with them effectively, while still being interesting and different.

The inferior function is the function that comes out, horribly and maladjustedly, under times of intense stress. Dominant functions are always repelled (to an extent) by their inferior functions. These 1st and 2nd place compatibility match-ups have the luxury of never falling into a function the other person would detest. It would seem familiar enough to be relatable without being revolting.

Having the same middle two functions allows for better communication, of course, but has another beneficial side-effect. People need to work on their middle two functions to be well-adjusted. In the perfect match-up, both types help each other learn and grow, without growing pains from miscommunication or misunderstanding. It gets better. When you’re stuck in your last function, you feel miserable. Your 3rd function is your ticket out of that misery. Your perfect match happens to be great at exactly that. Your 3rd is their 2nd. They’re literally the one to give you a hand when you fall.

Q:Is it normal for an INFJ like myself to be attracted to fellow INFJ's or INTJ's?

Anonymous

There’s nothing wrong with loving yourself! You’ll naturally get along well with people who share your dominant function.

Q:So, I know that I know that Im INJ - but I feel like I'm right in the middle of T and F. Everyone around me agrees. I relate to both INFJs and INTJs...
Any idea how I can figure this out?

a-slippery-slope

Easy. The have different secondary and tertiary functions, so you just have to compare them. INTJs have TeFi and INFJs have FeTi. These functions are noticeable, despite being lower, unless you are very young or inexperienced.

VJ of INFJ.Com clarifies:
”An important distinction between INFJs and INTJs is that the “intelligence” or “skill-set” INTJs excel at is Strategic, followed by Diplomatic; while for INFJs the order is reversed:  Diplomatic, followed by Strategic.  So INTJs typically consider Logic first, people second; while INFJs tend to consider people first, Logic second.“

Do check out that link, because I think the author does a great job explaining the differences.

Remember:

If you are left-handed then you can learn to use your right hand with agility, but it does not make you right-handed. You are one or the other, right this instant, it’s just up to you to figure out which it is.
