Q:So I've always thought I was an ENFP, however I just retested and got ENTP with with a strong, strong favor of T over F.
I relate more to the ENFP descriptions, but that doesn't explain why I'd test so strongly towards T.
Why is this?

andraleigh

I almost deleted this question because you should really just check the FAQs (please still check out this link even though I’m answering your question), but because you were interested in why, I decided to show your question mercy :P

It’s good to be interested in why things are the way they are. Not that many people are interested in why.

ANYWAY.

Well, if you are an ENFP, you could be testing towards T because you have a well developed tertiary T function, extraverted thinking (Te). ENTPs have a higher thinking function (obviously) but it is introverted thinking (Ti).

Remember that the inventories do not test for functions, they test for your preferences in each of the four dichotomies (E/I, N/S, T/F, J/P).

The more well developed you are, the more you can use all of your functions with ease, not just your dominant two. Perhaps in this case, you have been developing your tertiary extraverted thinking (Te).

Q:What percent of the population are Ti-dominants?

Anonymous

Approximately 23% of the United States population. This includes types with Ti (introverted thinking) as their second function.

Q:Who are some more modern ENTPs in fiction? Like say, from shows like Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Game of Thrones, X-Files, Doctor Who etc?

The Eleventh Doctor, Doctor Who
Hiccup,  How To Train Your Dragon.

Q:I'm an ENFP in a relationship with an ENTP, and almost everywhere I look it says that those relationships are like time bombs - intense but volatile. I wonder why, because even though we have problems -as any other couple does- we have been together for more than a year and is like it's Real This Time. I know that if you're mature enough types don't matter, but still, what do you think about ENTP/ENFP?

Anonymous

I, personally haven’t had any relationships with any ENTPs, but by looking at the functions:

ENFP: Ne Fi Te Si
ENTP: Ne Ti Fe Si

You see that the information gathering processes (perceiving functions) are the same, but the conclusion/decision processes (judging functions) are different. This can lead to some major miscommunication. But, like I say quite frequently, if both parties are interested in genuinely attempting to communicate thing things can be fine. Since I don’t have anymore information that what you’ve given me, I can only conclude that you two are trying to do this. A year is a long time. ESPECIALLY FOR TWO NPs, OH MY GOODNESS.

/generalizations and stereotypes.

To the ISFJ with an “ENTP” who asked a question earlier

Hello!
I’m an ISFJ and my boyfriend is an ENTP, aka the exact opposite.
But I’m in the healthiest and best relationship of my entire life. Do you think it’s likely that one of us is actually a different type or is it possible that even though we’re opposites it can completely work.
I feel like we bring out the best in each other and give to each other what the other lacks. It’s an extremely rewarding relationship. :)

(This Ask)

I’d like to point out what was blindingly obvious to me when I read your ask:

Your boyfriend is not an ENTP, he is an ESTP, but don’t despair! (ISFJ-ENTP wouldn’t want to spend 5 minutes with each other. ISFJ-ESTP is a match made in heaven.) That’s good news though, you’re a living testament to how well these optimal pairings can go.

Type dynamics and functional interactions can be a very useful tool to figure out type. I’ve spotted many ESFPs who’ve thought they were ENFPs, just because INTJ-ENFP is so incredibly different than ESFP-INTJ. Likewise, I’ve found an ENFP who thought they were an ESFP because of the dynamic, as well. (I’m very familiar with ESFPs and ENFPs. My Father is an ESFP and my sister is an ENFP. My ideathief is an ENFP as well.
